War, Huh, YEAH!!!!

War, huh yeah
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing.
War huh yeah
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing.
Say it again y’all
War, huh good god
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing Listen to me

War-I despise
‘Cause it means destruction
Of innocent lives
War means tears to thousands of mothers’ eyes
When their sons go off to fight
And lose their lives

War, huh good god y’all
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing say it again
War whoa lord
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing listen to me
It ain’t nothin but a heartbreaker
Friend only to the undertaker

Oh war, is an enemy to all mankind
The thought of war blows my mind
War has caused unrest in the younger generation
Induction, then destruction who wants to die

War, good god y’all
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing say it say it say it
War uh huh yeah huh
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing listen to me
It ain’t nothin but a heartbreaker
Got one friend that’s the undertaker

Oh war has shattered many young man’s dreams
Made him disabled bitter and mean
Life is much too short and precious to spend fighting wars these days
War can’t give life it can only take it away oooooh

War, huh good god y’all
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing. Say it say again
War whoa lord
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing. listen
It ain’t nothin but a heartbreaker
Friend only to the undertaker

Peace love and understanding tell me
Is there no place for them today
They say we must fight to keep our freedom
But lord knows there’s got to be a better way

Serious question, “What is war good for?” This song wasn’t the greatest answer to question or the worst answer. The best answer would be a scholarly report explaining the extenuating factors of war and the long term effects on a country’s populace, economy, morale, etc. etc. The wrong answer is “To kill the bad guys”, that is a child’s answer. But we are neither children nor historians with a PhD; I will bring forward a mature and balanced answer to this question.

It’s easy to say war is good for its positive results in the perspective of those who win but a great man once said “From a historical point of view, warriors who have lost what they were protecting, and further betrayed by those they were protecting, are losers.” In the instance for those who lose a war it’s not a single loss, losing a war has its long term effects they can be positive and negative. For example two countries who went in two completely opposite directions after World War II; Japan and Germany. Germany’s economic and political infrastructure was ravaged for being on the wrong end. Restitution they were forced to pay other nations for the damaged done, their currency rendered useless, their country split in two for over 40 years, and have just recently gotten back to the economic dominance they once held. Japan on the other hand rebuilt from scratch, with a little political corruption, are once again a world super power. The war in Iraq is good for nothing, those people may have democracy but that came at the price of anarchy and foreign lives. War in Afghanistan, about the same, corrupt country, no real results yet after 7 years. So back to the original question, “What is war good for?” It’s as good as the next one.

Keep me entertained, what are your thoughts??
